Authenticity, Quality
& Warm Welcome

Newly reimagined, The Albyn is a family-run restaurant and bar in Aberdeen's attractive West End. For us, it's been a labour of love, years in the making.

Rooted in
Hospitality

Our family history in the North East Scotland hospitality industry goes back two generations, and we know how to create the perfect atmosphere and experience for any social occasion.

I grew up in the hospitality business. This served me very well as I moved abroad to gain a wealth of international experience, and when the opportunity to reimagine and revive The Albyn came up, it was the perfect chance to move back to Aberdeen with my young family to work on something new and exciting.

Local Produce
at The Albyn

We're proud of this region and what it has to offer — and that includes the great food and drink produced here.

Our chef uses meat butchered by G McWilliam and haddock from Colin Fraser Ltd — both respected, local suppliers. Our delicious bread is baked in-house by our talented pastry Chef. The bar is stocked with an array of Scottish spirits — from malt whiskies, to premium rums and gins — and local beers feature extensively, from breweries like Brew Toon and Fierce. For dessert, our ice cream is supplied by Simpson's of Buckie — and comes highly recommended.

The Ploughman

Another independent, family-run business, The Ploughman has been an institution in the Aberdeen village of Peterculter for decades. Originally built by publican Ned Brown, it was then taken over by Bill Coutts, before the previous owners Graeme & Shirley Wight ran this cosy Scottish pub for an impressive 32 years.

We began running The Ploughman in 2019, and continue to welcome locals and visitors for good quality food and drink — served all day, every day.

Bieldside Inn Welcome

The Bieldside Inn

In 2022, we were very proud to reconnect at long last with a venue that the Cruickshank family have many fond memories in — The Bieldside Inn.

Simon Cruickshank's father Simon Snr. owned and operated "The Bielder" from 1989 to 2003 — so this acquisition holds extra significance for all involved, as we make exciting plans to reimagine and refurbish it, with new menus and more flexibility for events and private dining.
